Free Gift Follow Up

It's December 22nd so I suppose there is no better time to discuss how to make money with your membership site by offering a free gift as a follow up. Because this is the "gift giving season" and all...see the connection? 
Okay, so I know it's a bit of a cliche' but the money REALLY is in the follow up. If you are not paying serious attention to your members and/or customers the reality is that you are truly leaving lots of money on the table. One way to do this is to follow up with your new members 30 days into their membership. Provide them with a bunch of free products offering valuable information that they can download.
Simply by giving away all of this valuable content invokes a huge amount of reciprocity which makes your members more likely to read your future email, return to your membership site and ultimately to contribute and connect back with your group.
This little effort reaps great rewards and greatly leverages the time, money and resources it may take you to do this. If you don't have your own unique content or item to offer consider purchasing some of the private label material that is offered out there and make it your own. The PLR business (Google "private label rights, information products") has changed considerably and you can now purchase good quality videos, audios and ebooks on just about any subject--make sure the rights allow you to give it away and then..... buy it! Remember that this one purchase will be given out to your 30 day new member so your investment in it goes down with every new member that joins your group.
