Finding a Mentor

One of the best ways to learn how to make money with your membership site is to learn all you can from a few well chosen mentors. The challenge of course is weeding through all the internet marketers out there that claim to be "experts".
A great looking sales page with screenshots of the person's bank account or clickbank earnings is not a great way to evaluate someone you want to learn from...In fact, these are generally people you want to run from as they seem to feel the need to prove themselves--truly successful people don't need to prove anything--their work speaks for themselves.
I hesitate to offer a bunch of mentor suggestions simply because it all depends on what your niche is and what you are looking to do with your membership site.
One guy that I do recommend if you are starting out is Chris Guillebeau of the popular blog, A Guide to Unconventional Living. Chris launched a new program today for just 150 people where he will tutor them (along with other members of his team) as they build a successful small business online.
You can also download his free ebook below (Click on the image) which will give you a lot of tips and strategies to making money online. For the record, none of these links are affiliate links...I just admire Chris's down to earth approach and because he lives what he teaches.

There are obviously many more 'mentors' out there that you could choose from and I encourage you to do some research in your niche and follow them. It is very easy to follow ALL of them and watch all their offers come by in your email but I suggest you find just a few--less than six and learn from them.
Best practices work for our membership sites as well so find your mentor and pick up their best practices!
