Upsell the Hard Copy

Another great way to make money with your membership site is to take your existing electronic material and make a hard copy of it.

For instance, the ebook that you are selling or giving away digitally can be made into an actual book with an ISBN number included. Check out lulu.com or Xlibris.com. A very affordable service I have used in the past is 48hrbooks.com. They provide a nice cost calculator so you enter in the number of pages of your ebook, if you want hardcover/softcover and the number of color pages. The average cost of most of these services for 100 copies of a 50 page softcover book is around $400. That is about $4/book...not bad at all. So, you can still sell your digital PDF in the form of an ebook and also upsell them on the printed copy (with a personal signature and message from you of course!)

To handle the video and audio that you have created you can EASILY turn those into CD's or DVD's using the wonderful oxVWy-cdrom.jpgservices at Kunaki.com! You can sell your video/audio course on the front end which is delivered digitally by download and as an option or an upsell they can get the CD or DVD sent to their door.

Kunaki is unbelievably affordable for small orders too! For an order of 10 CD's or less it is just $1 per CD. So for $10 bucks you can turn your audio or video (same price for a DVD) into 10 physical CD's/DVD's with:

  • Jewel case
  • Full color printing
  • Full color two panel insert
  • Cellophane wrapping
  • UPC bar code

...and they will send it to you in 24 hours.

Simply being able to offer and promote your products as a hard copy published book or a physical CD or DVD adds a credibility to you and your membership site.

Although many of us are comfortable with digital downloads there are still lots of your potential customers and members that want to have a physical product. The added bonus to sending a physical product is that now you have their mailing address for future hard copy promotions.

Consider adding physical products to your membership site--it is inexpensive and will help you make money with your membership site!

Yes well that's all very well if you are living in America. The cost to publish my ebooks according to 48hrebooks is $35 each. Crazy. I'd loose money so fast if I did this.

I really appreciate your kind advice, but I would like to see Americans start understanding that there are more countries on this Earth other that America.

Hi Amy,

Apologies if the information provided won't work in your particular situation.

I certainly am cognizant of the world community and enjoy the company of my friends and family that live in other countries outside of the USA. I am sharing information here that is based on my personal experiences and current geographical residence using various products and services. If I moved back home to Ireland I am sure my posts would occasionally contain information that was more relevant to services and products I experienced from the British Isles.

I also suppose that the actual vendors I referred to aren't as important as the point of muy post which dealt with the concept of re-purposing your content and making a "hard copy" from your existing digital products.Perhaps a Google search for these types of services and your country will result in cheaper shipping charges making the expense more reasonable.

Thanks for taking the time to post!
